Robin Wright

Howdy All,
Well today I am thinking of a lady I saw a couple of years ago at the CountryFolkMusicTheater in East Dixfield, Maine. She is a lovely lady who does Tammy Wynett tributes. I must say, I was in awe. I had to keep reminding myself that this was not Tammy singing. She sang many of Tammys greastest hits. Like “Stand By Your Man”, “I Don’t Want to Play House” and many more. The house band did a good job playing for her. There was not much time for any practise and when they did start off in the wrong key or whatever, she would just smile and make a cute joke and they would start over. It was a class one act.
After the day was thru she and her husband stayed at Larry Bisbee’s, (the propriater of the Countryfolk MusicTheater,) for awhile and I stayed as well. Larry invited me for he knew I was a “Tammy” fan. Robin Wright and I had a lot of fun singing together. I only wish I had been able to get out of my “jitters” singing with her for I think I might have done better. Nonetheles, it was fun.
She is a very real down to earth person who tried for years to make it big as a country singer. The problem was that she looks and sounds so much like Tammy that she could not make it as herself. “We already have one Tammy…we do not need two” was the responce she got when she tried to get recorded.
After the death of Tammy Wynett and as sad as it may seem, Robin Wright got her break. She does not try to “outdo”Tammy, but does tributes to Tammy Wynett. If you get the chance to hear Robin and see her perform, oh you should. I hope she comes to my area again sometime. I would love to spend more time with her.
Let me know if you have ever heard her.
